Polish Door Step Sellers
Members of the public have reported Polish Door Step Sellers selling their pictures. If the householder does not purchase a picture, which is often only a photocopy anyway, they turn their English written card over and beg for money.
Here is a notice in English and Polish to keep by the door in case of any callers: polish-sellers.pdf

2. How YOU can help! (below)
1. This Watch group was formed as part of an initiative by the Police to improve the effectiveness of Home Watch in the local community by co-ordinating activities and improving communication. A committee headed by John Shave runs the scheme. We seek to ensure an active association providing value to its members. Our objectives are:
To operate an organisation to promote an understanding of the aims and benefits of Home Watch by the community and to recruit as many Members as possible.
To promote all aspects of a community based crime prevention organisation operating in close liaison with the Police.
To foster a caring community spirit such that Members contribute towards the protection of their properties by mutual co-operation and communication.
To promote a greater shared awareness of the crime problems in the community and a better understanding of the practical steps that can be taken to address them.
To assist Members in addressing specific aspects of crime prevention by making accessible relevant products and services at competitive prices.
To research and recommend best practice in key aspects of crime prevention.
To fund the Watch we have set a annual membership fee of £1 minimum for households. The fee is receipted by issuing a membership card (Grey for 2007/08). Newsletters are produced quarterly and distributed to all members.

Latest Ringmaster Messages
9th May 2008
During the past two nights there have been attempts made to steal from cashpoint machines around the county by two, or possibly three males using an electric or petrol driven angle grinder to cut into the cashpoint machines.
On the first occasion the males were successful in obtaining an amount of cash, but on the second they were disturbed by a member of public and made good their escape.
These males are said to have been wearing hooded tops and balaclavas on their faces and on both occasions they made off in a dark coloured Audi vehicle registration similar to YR06GJE.
This vehicle is believed to have also been connected to two other similar incidents recently, one an armed robbery in Poole at the beginning of the week and a similar ATM attack which occurred in Hampshire last Monday. On these previous occasions it is thought the vehicle may have been displaying a set of false number plates.
For the past two nights members of public have been disturbed by the level of noise created by the angle grinder and reported the incidents promptly to Police.
The Dorset Police are seeking your assistance in tracing this vehicle and its occupants and urge anyone with information or who may hear suspicious noises in the early hours to contact Police on 999 immediately quoting Crime Number 19933.
DO NOT APPROACH THESE PERSONS OR VEHICLE YOURSELF. Please advise your friends and neighbours.
If you have any information regarding this message please call the Dorset Police on 222222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A burglary has been discovered in Foxcroft Drive on return from holiday 4 March. Entry gained via the rear window. Cash and jewellery stolen. I have no other burglaries in your area but I do have several in St Leonards and West Moors. Just in case they have moved down the road!
Please remember that your Home Watch association has a very effective burglar alarm which can be borrowed free of charge if you are about to go on holiday and are concerned. Please call Graham Mallett 884642 or email (see left) if you would like to borrow it. Very simple to install and no wiring.
