Colehill Community Library offers full access to the Dorset Library service plus MORE!

Library Service Charges are available on the Dorset Council Site

JUNE 2020 – Download Digital Newspapers for free with your library card! See last section below.

  • Join the Dorset Library Service (now a member of LibrariesWest) – its FREE

Fill in a membership form at the Library or join online

Remember to bring proof of address when presenting your application form at the library

You will receive a Dorset Library membership card which gives you access to all of the LibrariesWest service.

  • Browse and borrow from the constantly changing selection of fiction and non-fiction books.

There is a very good selection of large print books and our children’s area is well used by our younger readers delving into the book boxes, researching their homework and browsing for the latest novels.

They also enjoy regular puzzles and colouring, often while cuddling one or more of our collection of soft toys.

Babies and push chairs are very welcome.

There is also a regularly updated selection of books for teens (on your right as you enter the library).

  • Request books, audio visual items or information

Our volunteers are always pleased to help you find books and request titles.

You will be notified as soon as your request is available for collection at Colehill.

We are also happy to help in searching for information both in books and on the Internet.

CDs and DVDs may be requested and collected from Colehill.

  • Can’t visit the Library

Ask about our Good Neighbour scheme – we are willing to hold books for a nominated person to collect on your behalf or to arrange delivery and collection of requested items.

Alternatively we can help you to join the Housebound Readers scheme which provides for a delivery service by the Royal Voluntary Service.

  • Internet Access and Computer use

The Library has two public access computers which may be used for up to 2 hours any day for free.

Printing – 10p a sheet for black/white and 50p for colour

There is free Wi-Fi in the Library.

  • Jig Saw Library

Borrow from a selection of over 100 puzzles (increasing all the time). Just make your selection from our colour catalogue in the lobby and ask a volunteer to bring your choice to you. There is no charge and no time limit.

  • Local Information

There is a selection of local maps and leaflets and flyers on local activities and organisations.

There is also a small but interesting collection on the history of the area which we hope to expand. All contributions are welcome.

The Library has a colour photocopier and a laminator. Both can deal with up to A3 sizes.
