Summary
Blister Pack Recycling
Exciting news! We can see that there is much dismay from our residents that it is proving impossible to recycle medicinal blister packs anywhere, so we have bought – as a one-off trial – a returnable unit for you to use. This has been put inside the foyer of the Reef (Colehill and Wimborne Youth and Community Centre) which is open during office hours. The cost of this is £90 including collection and recycling and it holds 7000 used blister packs. The company is called Reworked and we have investigated their credentials on actually recycling these items rather than just selling them onwards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdZWLBy4rus
We hope we can offer this service to fill the gap that has been left by other local recycling points stopping but this will of course have to be reviewed if it is swamped by people coming from miles around due to the lack of this service elsewhere. Please be mindful to only put blister packs into the box and also that the Reef may be locked at lunchtimes sometimes.
This is very much a trial project for us – we have listened to our residents and hope this is helpful to you!
The blister pack collection has been very popular and is now almost full. We will be removing the collection box from the foyer at The Reef about 3pm today, Fri 4th July***
