Michael was co-opted onto the council in March 2020 and serves on both the Highways and Plans Committee, on which he is the vice-chair, and the Finance and General Purposes Committee.
He first moved to Colehill from Essex in 1966 with his parents and younger brother and sisters but moved away shortly afterwards to attend university and then for work. He only returned to live permanently in Colehill in 2014 after retirement, but has been a regular visitor to the area during the intervening years.
He graduated in civil engineering from Imperial College London in 1970 and is a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, specialising mainly in the field of bridges and other highway structures.
He is keen to make a contribution to the work of the council and is particularly interested in preserving the natural environment and access to footpaths and green spaces for recreational use.
