Colehill Parish Council are currently entering into an agreement to adopt the red Telephone Box at Dales Drive for community use. These telephone boxes tend to be adopted by Town and Parish Councils for all different uses and a lot of them now house defibrillators. We have been seeking our residents views on what you would like the Dales Drive telephone box to be used for – we have already installed (and maintain) a defibrillator only a few metres away on the side of One Stop so we are lucky that we can choose from lots of other ideas.
More details on the history of the telephone box can be found here Red telephone box – Wikipedia along with some novel ideas for use!
The results from the consultation which has now closed were:
Books 35.71%
Flowers 28.57%
Plant Swap 21.43%
Noticeboard for events/services 7.14%
Toy exchange 7.14%
These and any ideas from Councillors was discussed at the Council meeting on 12th March and a decision was reached on using this as a book exchange as per the public consultations majority request. This will now be worked on (including repainting, glass refurbishment and shelving built) and will hopefully be ready by the summer.
