This morning, 15th August 2020, on the 75th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan), a few members of our community gathered in the drizzle at the War Memorial in Colehill. The Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Emma Urquhart, read a short statement, her husband, retired military bandsman Andy Urquhart, played the Last Post and a minute’s silence was held. The Reveille was played and Chris Brown, who serves as Crier to both Colehill and Wimborne, cried the remembrance of the end of hostilities 75 years ago.
For the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony in November the roads are closed temporarily and the traffic is still, however this was not possible today and the traffic noise on the video is quite intrusive.
