Colehill Parish Council have been informed about a proposal to install a 18 metre tall 5G telecommunications mast, and a number of associated cabinets, on the corner opposite the co-op shop, at the junction of Smugglers Lane and Wimborne Road.
See the information that has currently been provided to us for the 5G Mast Pre-Consultation.
This is at the pre-consultation stage, which means a formal planning application has not yet been submitted. The Council has been invited to provide our initial feedback, in advance of the formal planning process starting.
What is 5G?
5G is a new type of mobile internet connection, approximately 10 times faster than the existing 4G mobile network and allowing far more devices to access the internet at the same time. The mobile networks started to rollout 5G in 2019, and it is currently available in over 100 towns and cities across the UK. It is estimated as many as 400,000 masts will be required over the next few years to complete the rollout.
What Will it Look Like?
We attach an impression showing how we think the mast and supporting cabinets will appear based on the information sent to us by the telecoms company…
